Nokuzola (Zola) Ncube

Your donation helps put a defibrillator in a public space.

Nokuzola (Zola) Ncube, a multi-disciplinary artist based currently in London, Ontario, Canada, seamlessly weaves her talents as a dancer, choreographer, and overall creative, with a keen understanding of movement as a narrative tool. Over the span of 12 years, she immersed herself in training across diverse dance genres, including ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, and jazz.

Zola grew up dancing at Elan Dance Arts and watching the first responders practice at the studio. She feels a deep sense of privilege to now be a part of this event as a choreographer and looks forward to seeing all the teams dance it out!

Since 2016, Zola has assumed the role of dance instructor at Elan Dance Arts, shaping the dance journeys of individuals aged 6 to 65 through teaching and choreography. With over 10 years in the dance industry, she has amassed valuable experience with organizations such as Stihl Timbersports Canada, The Tim Hortons Foundation, the National Basketball League, and Jorgen Dance.

In 2019, Zola's aspirations guided her to Zimbabwe, where she engaged with Hothaus Zimbabwe—an organization instrumental in harnessing indigenous and contemporary art forms like dance, music, and theatre for community progress. Amid this period, Zola unveiled "Jelimana," a poignant short film that artfully melds music, dance, and poetry to delve into questions of identity and belonging. The recognition bestowed upon this creation materialized through its selection at the International World Film Awards.

In addition to being a graduate student at Western University, Zola maintains a dynamic presence as she imparts her knowledge through workshops, dance classes, and intensives, all while pursuing professional dance endeavors with La Compagnie de Danse. Zola's fervent commitment lies in magnifying the expansive potential of the arts to narrate stories and unite individuals from all walks of life.
